What happened: Cursor reworked Teams seats into two usage pools (first-party / Auto–Composer vs third-party API models) and introduced a Premium seat aimed at all-day agent users (reported ~$120/mo or ~$96 annual). Tool impact: Cursor becomes more predictable for Auto/Composer-heavy teams and more expensive/explicit for Claude/GPT-picker power users. Soft fallback to first-party when the API pool runs dry (reported) is the product stance vs Copilot's harder credit ceiling.

Switch or not?
Stay on Cursor if the IDE agent UX is why you pay; buy Premium only after two weeks of measured third-party pool burn. Don't switch to Copilot just for a lower seat sticker if you live in Cursor daily.
Money / risk
Third-party pool + Premium seats can stack past Copilot Business math fast. Cap model picks (Auto vs Claude) in team policy or finance will see a June surprise on renewal (existing customers reported moving on later cycles).
