Figma lets agents edit shaders/plugins via MCP — React handoff
What happened
What happened: Figma’s Sep 1, 2026 update expands generative plugins/shaders (animated/interactive), community/org publishing, downloadable shader/plugin code, and MCP so third-party agents (e.g. Claude Code workflows) can inspect/change effects and carry them into React. Design agent remains open beta for Full seats; free in beta then AI credits. Tool impact: Figma AI stops being only in-canvas assist—it becomes an agent-readable design surface competing with v0 for “design→code” ownership.
Tool impact
Switch or not?
If Figma is already SoR, enable MCP + trial agent shader flows before buying another UI codegen seat. Don’t abandon v0 if your artifact must be production React tomorrow—use Figma when design fidelity/shaders are the bottleneck.
Money / risk
Beta-free → AI credits soon. Org publishing + agent loops can spike seats/credits; set who may publish Community vs private org plugins.
